backing track 2
A few weeks ago I sent out a backing track using only two chords the entire time (Am and F). This week I would like you to play over this newer version of the same track. In this track I included an extra chord (G) and faster chord changes over the chorus sections (the parts with the over-driven guitar).
In addition I would like you to do the following:
Experiment with playing shorter repeating phrases over the chorus,
Notice how your phrase will not sound the exact same over each chord.
When you play a phrase with your guitar, your notes are relating to the backing chord in a certain way. When you repeat the same phrase over a different chord, the notes are now relating (or functioning) in a different way. Using repeating phrases over chord changes will allow you to get a lot more life from a single phrase, as well as help establish a familiar melody that the listener can relate to (and begin to expect to hear...more on this later).
You can use the same scale and notes for this exercise as with the previous track
